Phase 1 Ortho Treatment
We are so proud of Christian for finishing his phase 1️⃣ orthodontic treatment today.
We get asked a lot to explain phase 1️⃣ treatments. This treatment generally applies to children around 8-11 years of age. Phase 1s typically involve the use of expanders, retainers, space maintainers, habit breaking appliances, limited braces and other appliances in order to correct problems, which if left untreated, may lead to graver issues in the later comprehensive phase of treatment.
The objective of a phase 1️⃣ is to carefully guide and facilitate eruption of the permanent teeth and to ensure appropriate space is created to allow for their eruption. In addition, phase 1 treatment may help in the early correction of severe malocclusions, crossbites, growth abnormalities, habit correction, and early space loss.
